Widgo vs Fin

Widgo vs Fin: a flat price, not $9.99 every time it works

Fin for Sales is the most transparently priced product in this category and it is genuinely quick to start. The catch is the model. It charges $9.99 every time it qualifies someone, on top of a paid Intercom seat, so the better it works the more you pay.

Reasons

Three reasons teams switch to Widgo.

Twenty seven times cheaper at scale.

Fin charges $9.99 every time it qualifies someone. At 650 qualified leads a month that is roughly $80,000 a year once Intercom seats are added. Widgo Growth is $2,988 whether it qualifies ten people or a thousand.

No helpdesk required.

Fin for Sales needs a paid Intercom seat, between $29 and $132 a month per person, and its documentation says it is not compatible with other helpdesks. Widgo is one line of code on the site you already have.

Free forever, not fourteen days.

Fin gives you a 14 day trial, which is fair and more than most offer. Widgo Free has no expiry and no card, so a quiet site can run on it for a year and never pay anything.

The Real Deal

Before we wrote a line of Widgo, we spent six weeks doing something less glamorous: visiting the website of every company we could find selling conversational sales software, visitor identification, or demo automation. 332 of them. We recorded two things for each: can you see the price, and can you try the product without talking to a salesperson.

The demo gate

The most common pattern in the category is the demo gate: the product exists only behind a calendar link. You fill out a form, wait for an SDR email, sit through a call, and then, sometimes, get a sandbox. The median path from homepage to hands-on product was four steps and two business days. 71% of the companies we reviewed required a demo call before you could touch the product. For software whose whole pitch is answering buyers instantly, that is a strange way to sell.

Hidden pricing

58% published no pricing at all. Of the companies that did publish pricing, entry points clustered far above what a small software team can justify: the enterprise conversational-sales tools we tracked start at reported contracts around $40,000 a year, and signal tools around $700 a month. Per-resolution pricing looked cheaper until we modeled traffic growth. The bill scales exactly as fast as your success does.

What it costs small teams

Put the two findings together and the market has quietly decided that instant, conversational selling is an enterprise feature. If you are a four-person team, your buyers ask the same 2 a.m. questions as an enterprise's buyers, but every tool built to answer them assumes you have a pipeline team, a procurement process, and a Salesforce contract.

What we did about it

Widgo is the inverse of the pattern we found: the price is on the page, the free plan is free forever, and the demo is the widget in the corner of the site. No call required. We published this research because it is the reason the product exists. If you want the raw dataset, ask the widget; it will send it over.
